Accounts Payable Manager

The Company is searching for an Accounts Payable Manager to join their Finance and Accounting team in the San Mateo office. Our ideal candidate has the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently under multiple deadlines. This person will also need to perform at high levels in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.



  • Effectively manage a team of 2-3 A/P Specialists; provide guidance and mentorship
  • Manage full cycle A/P process, including reviewing invoices/expense reports for accuracy and completeness, verifying GL and department coding, and closing A/P module in Oracle and performing the appropriate reconciliations
  • Participate in acquiring necessary approvals to authorize for payment
  • Ensure that all inquiries, payments, and invoices/expense reports are processed accurately and timely
  • Record GL entries and perform account analysis as needed
  • Resolve and communicate with vendors and or employees with any issues that arise
  • Build strong relationships with all levels of management and delivering superior customer service
  • Handle the 1099 process, including printing and mailing the 1099
  • Lead and/or participate in system implementation and process improvement projects
  • Support internal/external audits for the A/P process, including the assurance of SOX compliance and proper documentation
  • Manage ad hoc projects as needed


  • B.A. degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 7 years accounts payable experience with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role with direct reports
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and ability to learn new software quickly
  • Strong ERP system experience – Oracle is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with all levels of management
  • Strong process improvement abilities “think outside the box”
  • Advanced customer service skills; able to diplomatically communicate and resolve issues
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with large volume, public company experience a plus
