Job Description

The Assistant Controller is a high visibility opportunity in a fast-paced environment and will have a direct influence on many accounting related activities including, accounting policy, financial reporting, technical accounting, and general ledger. In addition, the Assistant Controller will play a key role in designing process and controls for accounting operations, including payroll, stock admin, procurement, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Professional Requirements:

  • Prepare technical memos based on accounting policies
  • Establish internal controls to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements
  • Oversee critical parts of the global monthly close process
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures
  • Be a critical part of the external audit of the company’s financial statements
  • Assist with the setup and design of international accounting infrastructure, including accounting, accounting operations, tax, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (FP&A, Revenue and AR, Project Management, Payroll, etc.) to ensure complete, timely, and accurate monthly and quarterly accounting close and financial statements
  • Optimize and improve processes surrounding accounting close, financial reporting (internal/external), accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and others
  • SAAS revenue and revenue operations experience, including subscription billing and revenue recognition
  • Participate and or lead system implementations and process improvement initiatives
  • Continually look to improve accounting processes so the Company can scale as they grow
  • Train & mentor department staff and ensure appropriate prioritization work
  • Special projects and analysis as assigned

Personal Requirements:

  • CPA certification or equivalent required
  • Big 4 experience
  • 7+ years Accounting experience, ideally w/ public company environments IPO experience is a plus
  • Strong background in technical accounting, financial reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance
  • Technical revenue experience is desired
  • People management experience with the ability to mentor, develop and motivate employees
  • Experience with NetSuite, Zuora, Salesforce, Coupa will be highly desired
  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy when both preparing and reviewing work
  • Exposure to global accounting organizations
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Proven business partnership skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi- task and meet deadlines
