Our client is a well-run start up bringing their accounting in-house for the first time. They are looking for a candidate with broad-based accounting knowledge well-versed in the fundamentals, who is also open to learning and growing. Payroll experience is also important (50 now, growing by 15-20 this year). This will be a hands-on position with some clean-up to be done (chart of account mapping).




Looking to bring on an in-house Accountant to develop and execute our accounting policies and processes so that we can meet our financial growth goals. This individual will be reporting to our Head of Finance & Operations and other functional leaders to ensure that our books are kept up to date and accurate for quick decision making and reporting. The Accountant must be extremely detail oriented yet efficient and have a deep understanding of GAAP.


What You'll Do:


  • Performing the monthly and quarterly close processes including:
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Accounts Payable
    • Payroll
    • Fixed Assets
    • Cash Management and Bank Recons
    • Stock Administration
    • Multi-State Sales & Use Tax reporting
    • R&D Tax Credit
  • Processing journal entries to the general ledger
  • Reconciling bank and credit card accounts monthly
  • Working with the accounting team to close the company’s books
  • Preparing financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends as requested, in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by maintaining compliance documentation and maintaining historical records by filing documents electronically
  • Help achieve a higher level of accounting hygiene to prepare company for initial finance audit; Help develop and maintain internal controls
  • Establishing and maintaining immaculate record keeping
  • Coding transactions by name and account; Manage and enforcing GAAP-compliant procedures



  • 3 – 5 years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • CPA, former CPA. or CPA candidate preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Corporate Finance and other accounting theory, principles and practices to include GAAP, SaaS accounting and SaaS/Software Revenue Recognition principles (ASC 605 & 606), ASC 718: Stock-Based Compensation
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports
  • Proficient in three statement financial statements
  • Mastery knowledge of Microsoft Office; accounting software including QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online and
  • Experience with Payroll systems
  • Strong priority management skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Performing ad hoc assignments and financial analysis as needed
  • Comfort in the startup environment
