Senior Director of Strategic Finance

Our client in the Biotech/Technology space, is looking for a Senior Director of Strategic Finance. Ideally this candidate will have a background in investment banking or consulting with some experience in the biotech space.

The Position

You will serve as a key leader within the finance function and will be responsible for contributing in the creation of the company's business planning, capital markets, and finance systems functions.

 

Business planning responsibilities:

  • Strategic and operational finance advisor to budget owners
  • Partner with budget owners (program team leads, clinical, Digital Health) to improve financial processes, improve performance and facilitate efficient operations
  • Responsible for monthly and quarterly financial deliverables for respective business areas: program/project accrual prep, variance analysis, board reporting, budgets, forecasts, reporting, operating plan, etc.
  • Collaborate effectively across functions and programs to understand key business drivers, and how such drivers affect performance. Develop effective metrics to manage performance
  • Build analytical frameworks and forward-looking models to enable quality decision-making
  • Assist VP and business development teams with financial modeling for new strategic initiatives, product pipeline, financing transactions, and technology initiatives
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and duties as required, such as partnering assessments and board presentations
  • Promote a mindset of simplification, standardization and continuous improvement
  • Meet necessary corporate finance deliverables and timelines

Systems management responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary Finance administrator for ERP suite of systems (NetSuite, PBCS, Expensify, etc.)
  • Partner with VP and IT team to execute ERP systems roadmap and infrastructure build
  • Serve as lead project manager on budgeting & business planning tools implementation planned for early 2020
  • Lead internal training efforts and policy development for finance system management
  • Partner with other finance team members to identify opportunities for leveraging technology to enhance and improve business processes

Treasury responsibilities:

  • Assist Vice President, Finance with developing reports and dashboards to manage actual and forecasted cash burn
  • Assist Vice President, Finance with managing outsourced investment management firm
  • Assist finance team with external investor reporting

Who You Are:

  • 10-15 years finance, investment banking, or strategic consulting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Economics required
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred
  • Public company experience required; Life sciences and/or technology industry experience preferred
  • Ability to operate independently and comfortable with ambiguity/change management
  • Trained in project management principles; PMP or Agile/Scrum certification a plus
