As the Senior Manager of Technical Accounting located in our San Francisco office, you will be the go-to resource for addressing challenging technical accounting issues. You will be responsible for accounting research as well as technical accounting policy development and documentation. You will work closely with other members of the accounting team as well as business development, legal and other teams to understand the various partnerships, investments and cryptocurrency transactions that we engage in. Through your own research and analysis, as well as interface with outside technical advisors and auditors, you will be responsible to ensure proper accounting policy positions are taken on all current and emerging accounting issues.

Reporting to the Controller, this role will have primary responsibility for determining the appropriate accounting treatment for all company activities, including transactions and balances in XRP, the currency native to the XRP ledger. In an area of accounting with little precedent or authoritative guidance, this individual will need to work with outside advisors, industry groups and regulators to ensure proper positions are taken. You’ll be responsible for monitoring results of affiliates and investees and ensuring the results of these entities are appropriately reflected in our consolidated financial statements. This role will also drive documentation across the finance organization, including building out robust process and control documentation for all key finance areas.


  • Be the primary technical accounting resource ensuring proper accounting treatment for all company activities
  • Perform research into accounting for cryptocurrency and document appropriate treatment for XRP transactions and balances
  • Assist in technical assessment of deals and perform due diligence on potential partnerships, investments, and M&A activity
  • Act as a subject matter expert, working with the business partners in accounting and other functions (e.g., legal, corporate development, stock administration) to identify financial risks associated with new or contemplated transactions and resolve complex accounting issues
  • Support business partners during contract negotiations and present guidance throughout all levels and functions of the organization.
  • Research technical accounting issues and draft accounting policies, maintain accounting policy repository
  • Manage accounting for all company investments
  • Stay abreast of technical accounting developments and advise management on developments that may impact the company
  • Develop accounting process and prepare risk assessment and documentation related to internal control over financial reporting
  • Engage and manage relationships with outside technical resources as necessary
  • Provide periodic technical accounting trainings to the accounting organization and to other business partners as necessary
  • Interface with external auditors on complex accounting areas


  • 10+ years relevant work experience
  • Prior experience in a specialized technical accounting role, preferably in a public company setting
  • Big 4 audit or advisory experience
  • Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to address a wide variety of technical accounting issues
  • Prior experience with risk assessment and control documentation
  • Strong work ethic and ability to be productive and successful in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail with ability to identify issues and propose solutions to complex or non-standard situations
  • Subject matter expertise in consolidation and investment accounting, including VIE, equity method, and non-controlling interest
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent
