Q&A WITH IRVINA YU

How long have you worked in accounting, finance, and/or tech? Recruiting?

As a recent graduate, I have not had a wealth of experience in accounting or recruiting. After graduating, I worked in a contract role for a fintech start up in San Francisco.

How were you introduced to the recruiting industry?

I learned about the recruiting industry through my job search. As I was looking for my first role after college, I sought services from recruiting agencies to aid my search and being a candidate for these agencies provided me knowledge on how empowering and impactful the recruiting industry can be.

Why do you look forward to working in accounting, finance or tech talent acquisition?

I have not had as much experience as I would have liked to have in accounting, finance, or tech industries and I think recruiting for those talents can provide me the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the industry, what positions entail, and being able to support people from those backgrounds in their job search.

If you were to provide advice to peers in accounting, finance, or tech seeking to develop their careers, what would it be?

Be open to a variety of different opportunities. You never know what you may learn about yourself, the opportunity, an industry, whatever it may be if you don’t give it a try.

How were you introduced to the DeWinter Group?

I first learned about DeWinter Group through a recruiter that reached out to me through LinkedIn. What attracted me to DeWinter Group throughout my interaction with the team was the dedication to build relationships with people they interacted with.

What are 3 words to describe the DeWinter Group (or your impression thus far)?

  • Genuine
  • Dedicated

How do you plan on developing the DeWinter Group? What are your goals for the coming year?

I plan on developing DeWinter Group through developing connections with everyone I meet and supporting each candidate’s road to success to the best of my ability. My goals for the coming year include becoming advanced in providing an exceptional candidate experience and learning the best practices in being a successful recruiter.

How do you plan on practicing the DeWinter Group’s Mission Statement: ‘We Build Our Network One Relationship at a Time’?

I plan on practicing DeWinter Group’s Mission Statement through being an active listener and demonstrating empathy to every person I meet. I want to focus on how I can best support every individual I meet through my role.
