A Q&A with DeWinter Consulting’s Newest Strategic Sales Executive, Blair Rodriguez
Q&A WITH BLAIR RODRIGUEZ
How long have you worked in accounting, finance, and/or tech? Recruiting?
I have spent my entire career in sales. 10 years on Wall Street in Finance and 2 years on the sales side of the Staffing Industry.
How were you introduced to the recruiting industry?
A friend that I grew up with worked for a large, well-known national recruiting firm at the time and thought it would be a good fit for me because I was looking for a job that allowed me to have work/life balance but still used my finance background. I love sales, dealing with people, and networking, so it was the perfect fit.
Why do you look forward to working in accounting, finance or tech talent acquisition?
I look forward to continuing to work within accounting and finance talent acquisition in order to build new relationships utilizing the DeWinter Group brand.
If you were to provide advice to peers in accounting, finance, or tech seeking to develop their careers, what would it be?
Being dependable has been a big part of my success. It is so easy, yet many fail at it. I try to respond to calls/emails as soon as possible – even after hours or on weekends. There is so much competition in this industry, so providing the best customer service goes a long way.
How were you introduced to the DeWinter Group?
I first learned about the DeWinter Group during training at a large, well-known national recruiting firm. My boss was talking about competition and mentioned DWG. As I started placing consultants, I quickly learned that DeWinter had a huge presence at all of my accounts in the Bay Area. When Shane reached out to me last summer, I was very curious because all of my consultants/clients always spoke very highly of the company.
What are 3 words to describe the DeWinter Group (or your impression thus far)?
How do you plan on developing the DeWinter Group? What are your goals for the coming year?
I am the first member of the enterprise account sales team at the DeWinter Group and am excited to combine my sales experience from Wall Street with my staffing experience to bring additional value to the DeWinter Group brand. My goal is to build new long-lasting relationships within enterprise accounts, learn about key initiatives and objectives within the organizations, and partner with my clients to provide resource needs.
How do you plan on practicing the DeWinter Group’s Mission Statement: ‘We Build Our Network One Relationship at a Time’?
This is absolutely my favorite part of my job. I love meeting new people and building my network. My own personal career philosophy aligns well with those at DWG. I plan to continue building long-lasting relationships under the DeWinter Group brand.
What’s your favorite thing to do in the Bay Area/Silicon Valley?
Spend time with my husband, son, two Brittany Spaniels, and friends – going to the dog park, hiking, wine tasting, group dinners.
What did you originally want to be when you grew up?
When I was younger I would tell everyone that I was going to be the first female professional baseball player. Looking back, this is hilarious because I did not even play baseball or softball.
What’s your favorite ’90s jam?
Do I have to pick one? Ok fine – I will go with The Fugees!
