Q&A WITH KEVIN RUI
How long have you worked in accounting, finance, and/or tech? Recruiting?
I’ve been in the accounting industry for close to 10 years.
Why do you look forward to working in accounting, finance or tech talent acquisition?
I honestly enjoy the work and find it interesting.
If you were to provide advice to peers in accounting, finance, or tech seeking to develop their careers, what would it be?
I think it’s important to remember that soft skills (communication, active listening, developing relationships in a team/network, etc.) are often just as important as having technical expertise. Both need to be continually worked on to grow a successful career.
How were you introduced to the DeWinter Group?
I was directly contacted by external recruiters while I was still an auditor in public accounting.
What are 3 words to describe the DeWinter Group (or your impression thus far)?
How do you plan on developing the DeWinter Group? What are your goals for the coming year?
I hope to ensure that accounting and finance operations are sustainable as the DeWinter Group continues to grow.
What’s your favorite thing to do in the Bay Area/Silicon Valley?
My favorite Bay Area activity is watching San Jose Sharks hockey.
What did you originally want to be when you grew up?
Growing up, I always thought I’d end up being a math teacher.
What’s your favorite ’90s jam?
Tough question but probably One Headlight by The Wallflowers.
A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?
Help, I’m utterly lost. And yes, you are talking to a penguin right now!
