Q&A WITH CARLA HINDERLIE

How long have you worked in accounting, finance, and/or tech? Recruiting?

For the past 3 years, I was an executive assistant to an Accounting & CFO advisor for SaaS startups in Silicon Valley, but I’m new to recruiting.

How were you introduced to the recruiting industry?

My husband has been a recruiter for several years. His love for recruiting and the gratification he received in his role was contagious.

Why do you look forward to working in accounting, finance or tech talent acquisition?

Having grown up in Silicon Valley during the tech boom, I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by friends and family in the tech community. In my most recent role, my interest in technology and recruiting peaked as I had the opportunity to participate in new client intake interviews with founders of SaaS startups and support the recruitment of experienced accounting and finance candidates by coordinating and planning out their interview roadmaps with key stakeholders. It was so gratifying to provide a candidate a seamless and stress-free experience. I’m passionate about connecting with people and I’m most fulfilled when I can be the catalyst for driving an individual’s potential. I’m looking forward to learning more about tech talent acquisition and strengthening my natural ability to create sincere connections, build lasting relationships, and guide people through a curated candidate experience.

If you were to provide advice to peers in accounting, finance, or tech seeking to develop their careers, what would it be?

Growth and comfort do not coexist. Never stop acquiring knowledge and learning from others. Take risks, think globally, and have the flexibility to evolve.

How were you introduced to the DeWinter Group? 

I first learned of the DeWinter Group from Danielle Buis. We stayed in touch after working together previously at an accounting firm. She wouldn’t stop raving about this awesome group of people and organization. I’m so glad she did!

How do you plan on developing the DeWinter Group? What are your goals for the coming year?

In the coming year, I plan on utilizing every opportunity to learn from my peers, manager/mentor, and industry leaders. I’m eager to work tirelessly to develop my relationships internally and with candidates. I’m looking forward to providing my best and contributing to the growing success of the DeWinter Group.

How do you plan on practicing the DeWinter Group’s Mission Statement: ‘We Build Our Network One Relationship at a Time’?

Building a relationship requires trust, communication and credibility. I plan on developing these key building blocks with my team, clients, and candidates by consistently having their best interest at the forefront of every interaction.

Enjoy my favorite restaurants and explore new ones.

What did you originally want to be when you grew up?

A Chef and Pâtissier.
