Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Interim Director of Finance
to provide key support during a critical period. This role will be responsible for coordinating audit activities, managing the preparation and filing of the 990 tax return, and assisting with ad hoc financial projects such as reporting, analysis, and research. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented finance professional with strong organizational and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the annual audit process, including preparing schedules, liaising with auditors, and ensuring timely completion
- Manage and oversee the preparation of Form 990 in collaboration with external tax advisors
- Support ad hoc financial projects, including reporting, data analysis, and financial research
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation and communication across internal and external stakeholders
- Provide recommendations to improve financial processes and controls, as needed
- Collaborate cross-functionally to gather data and support finance-related initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)
- 5+ years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or audit support
- Previous experience with audits and nonprofit tax filings (e.g., Form 990) highly preferred
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and project management abilities
- Proficient in Excel and familiar with financial reporting systems
