Position Summary:
A Medical Device organization is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Metallurgical & Laser Marking Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Palm Beach Gardens, FL for a six-month contract. The primary responsibility of this role is to apply metallurgical expertise and advanced laser marking techniques to the manufacturing of devices. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background with specific experience in laser marking systems, particularly FOBA, and a working understanding of Ultrafast Pulsed (USP) lasers and nanoscale applications.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for metallurgical considerations within designated manufacturing processes.
- Develop, optimize, and validate laser marking processes on metallic medical devices to meet quality and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize and troubleshoot FOBA laser marking systems.
- Apply knowledge of Ultrafast Pulsed (USP) lasers and nanoscale principles to enhance device marking or surface treatments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, R&D) to resolve issues and implement process improvements.
- Contribute to process validation and documentation efforts.
- Troubleshoot issues related to material properties and laser marking.
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is required.
- Demonstrated experience as a Metallurgist in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in laser marking technologies.
- Hands-on experience with FOBA laser marking systems is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with Ultrafast Pulsed (USP) lasers and nanoscale applications is required. (Need RECENT experience in this)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience working in the medical device industry.
- Familiarity with Windchill and SAP systems.
