Title: Performance and Scalability Test Engineer
100% Remote, EST or CST time zones preferred
Rate: $60/hr
Duration: Through end of 2025, possible extensions
DeWinter's client seeks an experienced Performance and Scalability Test Engineer to join their engineering team. This role is crucial in ensuring software applications' performance, reliability, and scalability. Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive performance and scalability test plans for the web application and APIs, including Spike, Soak, and Stress tests
- Utilize tools like JMeter and other relevant technologies to simulate user load, identify bottlenecks, and analyze system behavior under stress.
- Analyze test results, identify performance issues, and collaborate with the development team to pinpoint root causes and implement solutions.
- Monitor system metrics (CPU, memory, network I/O, database performance) during testing and provide insights into potential performance improvements.
- Develop and maintain performance testing frameworks and scripts.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of performance testing processes and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in performance testing and scalability engineering in an AWS environment
- Strong proficiency with Apache JMeter or Locust for creating and executing load and performance tests.
- Experience with various performance testing methodologies and best practices.
- Experience with other performance testing tools (e.g., BlazeMeter, Artillery, WebLoad).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, Groovy, Javascript)
- Solid understanding of web application architecture, databases, and network protocols.
- Experience with performance monitoring tools for analysis of test results.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
