We are looking for a detail-focused and experienced Senior Cash Applications Specialist
to join our Finance team. This position plays a vital role in the accurate and timely processing of incoming payments, supporting billing and receivables functions, and ensuring financial data integrity. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in complex billing environments, strong analytical capabilities, and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply payments (including checks, wires, ACH, and credit cards) to customer accounts and outstanding balances using enterprise financial systems.
- Investigate and resolve unapplied or misapplied payments by working closely with internal stakeholders and external contacts.
- Track and reconcile trust-related or escrow account transactions in compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with billing and collections teams to maintain accurate customer account status and payment records.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes by ensuring all payment data is current and properly recorded.
- Identify areas for improvement in cash application procedures and contribute to workflow enhancements.
- Provide guidance and training to junior team members, serving as a resource for best practices and technical questions.
- At least 5 years of experience in cash application or accounts receivable, preferably in a complex or high-volume environment.
- Proficiency with financial software systems and electronic billing tools.
- Familiarity with structured billing procedures, client account arrangements, and compliance standards.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a high degree of ownership over responsibilities.
- Comfortable communicating across multiple departments and levels of leadership.
- Works well in a team environment, especially in distributed or multi-location teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and focused on achieving results collaboratively.
