The Senior Manager, Payroll Tax will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of all payroll tax operations. This individual will lead the payroll tax function for Marketer Payroll Operations, overseeing the precise and timely processing of federal, state, and local payroll tax contributions and filings for four distinct Employers of Record (EORs). They will also be a key resource for troubleshooting reporting errors and addressing payee inquiries regarding deductions and tax forms (W-2s, 1099s, etc.).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll tax function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all federal, state, and local tax contributions and filings for multiple EORs.
- Guarantee compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations across various states and jurisdictions, encompassing tax setup, deposits, filings, and reconciliations.
- Direct all year-end payroll tax activities, including the preparation and distribution of W-2s, 1099s, 940/941 filings, and other necessary documentation.
- Manage and provide comprehensive support for audits initiated by federal and state tax authorities.
- Conduct thorough reviews of daily and weekly pension contributions for organizations.
- Establish and uphold robust payroll tax procedures and best practices to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.
- Foster strong collaborative relationships with internal teams, including Marketer Payroll Managers, Marketer Payroll Operations, Finance, Legal, and Compliance, to deliver seamless service.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the finance department.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is highly desirable.
- 10-15 years of progressive experience in payroll tax, with a proven track record of managing payroll tax for multiple external clients.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and agency requirements.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience managing high-volume, multi-state payroll tax operations across diverse industries, with a preference for experience in entertainment or advertising.
- Advanced proficiency in payroll and tax systems (e.g., ADP/MASTER TAX) and Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional ability to manage multiple deadlines and effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
