AI Engineer (Data Scientist) – Veterinary AI Solutions

Overview:
Join our innovative team as an AI Engineer (Data Scientist) and revolutionize veterinary healthcare through cutting-edge artificial intelligence. This remote, fast-paced role offers the opportunity to develop impactful AI-powered tools that support clinical decision-making, disease modeling, and diagnostic interpretations. If you're passionate about leveraging data science and machine learning to improve animal health, this is your chance to make a meaningful difference in a collaborative environment that values innovation and domain expertise.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive experience developing AI and machine learning models using Python, Pandas, PySpark, and scikit-learn.
  • Proven proficiency with the Databricks platform, MLflow, and version control tools like Git.
  • Strong background in natural language processing (NLP), including advanced Named Entity Recognition (NER) techniques.
  • Hands-on experience applying prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and generative AI tools such as Claude Code.
  • Ability to design, prototype, and operationalize AI models for clinical data, including structured and unstructured veterinary records.
  • Skilled in statistical analysis, data exploration, visualization, and modeling with large, distributed datasets.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), context engineering, and hybrid knowledge reasoning techniques.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience developing and orchestrating AI agents with large language models (LLMs).
  • Familiarity with healthcare or life sciences datasets (EMR, radiology, pathology).
  • Knowledge of veterinary health informatics, disease taxonomy, or ontology development.
  • Experience with knowledge graphs, semantic web, or ontology-based data integration.
  • Additional experience with classification algorithms such as decision trees, logistic regression, random forests, SVMs, or neural networks.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience building ML/AI solutions, particularly in Python environments with Pandas, PySpark, and MLflow.
  • Demonstrated success in end-to-end data science pipelines, from data sourcing and exploration to modeling and evaluation.

Other Requirements:

  • This position is remote, aligned with Eastern Standard Time (EST).
  • W2 employment only; no C2C arrangements.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and domain experts.
  • Willingness to stay current with advances in generative AI, prompt engineering, and veterinary informatics.
