Exciting Opportunity: Assistant Controller / Controller – SaaS Innovator in Sunnyvale
Join a dynamic SaaS startup poised for growth! We are seeking a seasoned Assistant Controller or Controller to lead the company's financial operations, ensure the integrity of its financial records, and partner closely with executive leadership. This pivotal role offers a chance to make a significant impact within a vibrant, fast-paced environment with approximately 90 employees, where your expertise will drive strategic financial planning, technical accounting, and team mentorship.
Key Highlights:
- Location: Sunnyvale, CA – Thursdays onsite, with a possibility of an additional day as needed
- Start Date: Next week (preferably 9/22)
- Duration: 3-4 months, with potential for extension and full-time conversion
- Collaboration: Direct reporting to the VP of Finance, working alongside the CEO and other VPs
- Team Mentorship: Lead and develop a team including a Senior Accountant, Accounts Payable Specialist, Accounts Receivable Specialist, and Payroll Coordinator
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a solid background in technical accounting and consolidated reporting
- CPA certification is mandatory; Big 4 or public accounting experience highly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise with NetSuite ERP system
- Advanced Excel modeling skills for budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Strong knowledge of revenue recognition standards (ASC 606), leases, stock compensation
- Excellent communication skills, capable of partnering effectively with executive leadership
- Leadership experience managing and mentoring finance teams
Nice to Have:
- International accounting and tax experience
- Familiarity with SaaS metrics and billing portals
- Experience in startups or fast-growth environments
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA certification
- 12-15 years of relevant experience, including exposure to public accounting
Additional Requirements:
- Onsite presence required Thursdays, with some flexibility
