Assistant Controller

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes across multiple private funds and management entities
- Manage fund cash flows, capital activity, and incentive allocations
- Coordinate with third-party fund administrators, auditors, and banking partners
- Support treasury functions including cash and FX management
- Assist with investor reporting and regulatory filings
- Analyze investment transactions and partner with teams on strategic initiatives
- Identify automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting or finance experience in investment management, fund administration, private credit, or similar financial institutions
- Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles
- Expert-level Excel skills and proficiency in accounting or portfolio management systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities
- Technical proficiency to manage work independently with minimal oversight
- Ability to communicate directly with senior executives, including the Controller and COO
Nice to Have Skills:
- CPA designation or progress toward one
- Experience with fund financial reconciliations and regulatory reporting
- Familiarity with internal database management and automation tools
- Prior experience in lean, entrepreneurial environments
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of five years’ experience within investment management or related financial sectors
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, lean environment without extensive infrastructure
Additional Requirements:
- This role is fully onsite in San Francisco, CA, and requires a commitment to working 5 days per week.
- The position is initially a 30-60 day contract with potential for extension or permanent conversion.
- Prior experience in fund accounting or investment operations is essential.
