About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in building automation, smart infrastructure, and integrated systems engineering, is seeking an experienced BMS Design Engineer for a 6+ month engagement with opportunity to extend or convert to a full time member of the team. This project involves managing controls design, instrumentation integration, and smart building technology initiatives—ensuring alignment with project scope, timelines, and quality standards. The engineer will play a critical role in mentoring junior staff, leading project delivery, and supporting client relationships and business development efforts. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Mentor and train junior engineers on controls, instrumentation, and design standards.
- Select and specify equipment and prepare detailed supporting reports.
- Attend project meetings and serve as a key technical liaison with clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Oversee quality control and resource allocation to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Collaborate with project management on deliverable planning and milestone tracking.
- Support business development and maintain strong client relationships.
- Create and maintain departmental processes and standards to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Contribute to hiring activities and technical evaluations for department growth.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 2+ years of experience working with controls, automation, and building systems in an engineering role.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Strong understanding of machine design, HVAC systems, electrical instrumentation design, and control sequence development.
- Knowledge of building IT/OT infrastructure, security systems, lighting controls, fire alarm, and low-voltage technology integration.
- Familiarity with commercial design and construction processes, smart building convergence, and network infrastructure for IT/OT integration.
- Experience with one or more of the following control platforms preferred: Schneider EBO, ALC WEBCtrl, Delta enteliWEB, Rockwell RSLogix, Schneider Unity/Ecostruxure, or Siemens Step 7.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
- Expert-level proficiency: AutoCAD, Word, Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface directly with clients and cross-functional teams.
- Highly organized, collaborative, and capable of managing multiple concurrent tasks and deadlines.
