About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in Advanced Technology and Robotics, is looking for a skilled  Controls Engineering Manager  to join their team for a full time position. This project involves developing advanced control systems for robotic manipulators and similar electromechanical systems, including motion control and servo tuning, and implementing software on real-time platforms. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Develop advanced control systems for robotic manipulators and similar electromechanical systems.
  • Perform motion control and servo tuning.
  • Develop dynamic models, modeling and simulations in MATLAB.
  • Implement software on real-time platforms.
  • Perform controls-related machine design analysis and selection of actuators, sensors, and other controls-related components.
  • Collaborating with the project manager to meet all milestone deadlines.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving bugs in a timely manner to keep the project on schedule.
Required Skills & Experience:

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
  • Education and Experience:  B.S. degree in Computer, Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautic, or a similar engineering field, with a minimum of 2 years of work experience,  OR  an M.S./Ph.D. degree in a similar field with 0 to 1 year of work experience.
  • Deep expertise in:
    • MATLAB.
    • C, C++ programming for Linux and for embedded systems.
    • Dynamic system modeling, motion control algorithms, and control systems theory (PID, feedforward).
    • Hands-on experience with control systems, filter design, and tuning.
  • Skilled in general mathematical modeling and analysis.
  • Experience in using microcontrollers and sensors, prototyping, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and Git version control.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
Additional Desirable Skills:
  • State estimation and system identification (model based and data based).
  • Theoretical background and experience in electrical and electronic system design.
  • Experience in digital and analog circuit design, embedded systems, interfacing with microcontrollers, power electronics design, and motion control.
  • Thermal modeling and analysis.
  • Lab skills, including soldering components, and rework of PCBAs.
