Are you a seasoned revenue accounting professional ready to lead a dynamic team and steer complex financial processes? We're seeking an accomplished Director of Revenue Accounting to provide strategic oversight and operational leadership during an exciting transition period. In this pivotal role, you'll ensure the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of revenue recognition while partnering across departments to support a fast-paced, innovative SaaS environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the monthly and quarterly revenue close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Manage revenue accounting policies and conduct technical assessments in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, Pricing, and systems teams to analyze new products, pricing models, and contract structures.
  • Maintain SOX compliance through control execution, process documentation, and audit readiness.
  • Oversee the accuracy of revenue, deferred revenue, and accounts receivable, identifying risks and providing actionable insights.
  • Ensure systems such as NetSuite ARM, CRM/CPQ, and billing tools are optimized for accurate revenue recognition and reporting.
  • Drive automation initiatives to streamline processes and reduce manual efforts.
  • Lead, coach, and stabilize the Revenue Accounting team, fostering cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Document policies, processes, and operating procedures to facilitate a smooth transition to permanent leadership.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of progressive revenue or technical accounting experience, with a focus on SaaS or technology companies.
  • Extensive knowledge of ASC 606, revenue contract analysis, and internal controls.
  • Proven experience with NetSuite ARM, CRM/CPQ, billing systems, and revenue subledger integrations.
  • Strong leadership skills capable of managing and developing a team of 5 professionals.
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on experience in process improvement, automation, and maintaining compliance discipline.
  • Ability to make sound judgment calls amidst ambiguity.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • CPA or equivalent professional certification.
  • Public company experience.
  • Familiarity with RevPro or similar revenue recognition tools.
  • Experience migrating to ERP systems such as Workday.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including leadership roles in SaaS or high-growth tech companies.

Other Requirements:

  • This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, requiring onsite presence three days per week (Tues, Wed, Thurs).
  • The initial engagement is for a minimum of one year, with potential for permanent conversion.
  • Immediate start preferred, with availability by 08/24/2023.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
