About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in the autonomous mobility sector, is looking for a skilled Hardware Engineer - Test Development  to join their team for a 6-month engagement. This project involves developing, documenting, and executing component and system-level hardware testing to characterize the functional performance of sensing and compute hardware. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Test Execution: Utilizing oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and other electrical/environmental test equipment to evaluate hardware performance.
  • Test Infrastructure Development: Developing custom test assets such as load simulators and test harnessing, and writing Python scripts to automate testing processes.
  • Test Planning: Developing test setups using block diagrams, BOMs, and formal test plans.
  • Documentation: Drafting and presenting Test Plans, Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Data Reviews, as well as reviewing documentation releases for standards, design, and risk assessments.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborating with suppliers, design, and system engineers to ensure testing objectives are met for both early prototypes and vehicle-level qualification.
Required Skills & Experience:

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
  • B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • 4+ years of professional work experience, with 2+ years specifically in electronics development.
  • Experience testing electronic, automotive, aerospace, or vehicle components.
  • Proficiency with PCBA design tools (Altium preferred) and 3D modeling tools (3DExperience or Catia preferred).
  • Strong hands-on experience using lab equipment such as Environmental Chambers, Oscilloscopes, E-loads, VNA, TDR, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Technical proficiency with Ubuntu and Python.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively to meet project goals.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Haves):
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet switching chipsets, PCIe, CAN Compliance, and common bus protocols (SPI, I2C, MDIO).
  • Experience with simulation tools (Ansys preferred) and data acquisition systems (UEI or Keysight).
  • Familiarity with requirement-test case management tools (Polarion preferred) and Atlassian software (Jira/Confluence).
