Job Title:  IT Application Engineer (Contractor)
Job Type:  Contract
Location:  Remote
Contract Duration:  6 months, with potential for extension
Target Start Date:  Immediate

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in cloud security, is looking for a skilled  IT Application Engineer  to join their team for a 6 month, with potential for extension engagement. This project involves ensuring security, compliance, and data protection across core productivity applications, specifically Google Workspace, Okta, Slack, Zoom, and 1Password. The engineer will lead efforts related to Data Protection, SOX audits, ISO audits, and other security/compliance reviews, ensuring that all audit findings are remediated and security best practices are enforced. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform security data protection activities and ensure compliance across Google Workspace, Okta, Slack, Zoom, and 1Password.
  • Support SOX, ISO, and other regulatory/security audits by providing required evidence, implementing corrective actions, and tracking remediation progress.
  • Analyze and remediate security audit findings, working with cross-functional teams to strengthen controls.
  • Implement and enforce IAM, access controls, and security policies across applications.
  • Collaborate with Global Security and Compliance teams to align with corporate security frameworks.
  • Manage user accounts, groups, and licenses across Google Workspace and Okta.
  • Configure and maintain SSO, MFA, and other identity/security integrations.
  • Administer Slack, Zoom, and 1Password to ensure secure collaboration and password management practices.
  • Troubleshoot application issues, provide expert support, and document resolutions.
  • Automate administrative and security-related workflows where possible.
  • Partner with Global Information Security, Networking, and Infrastructure teams to support global security initiatives. Participate in security-related projects, audits, and compliance-driven upgrades.
  • Provide training and guidance to end-users on security best practices.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of processes, configurations, and audit responses.
Required Skills & Experience:

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
  • 8+ years of experience in IT Applications administration with strong security/compliance exposure.
  • Deep expertise in Google Workspace and Okta (SSO, MFA, security policies). This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
  • Experience supporting SOX, ISO, or similar audits with proven remediation execution, and a strong understanding of IAM, data protection, and audit control requirements.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team, and strong documentation and compliance reporting abilities.
Required Skills:
  • 8+ years of IT Applications administration experience with strong security/compliance exposure.
  • 5+ years of hands-on administration of Google Workspace and Okta (SSO, MFA, security policies).
  • Experience supporting SOX, ISO, or similar audits with proven remediation execution.
  • Strong understanding of IAM, data protection, and audit control requirements.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and compliance reporting abilities.
Desired Skills:
  • Google Workspace and Okta Administrator certifications.
  • Experience with scripting (Python, PowerShell) to automate compliance and security tasks.
  • Familiarity with Workato or other integration platforms.
  • Knowledge of security standards (ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2).
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
