IT Sr. Automation Engineer

Overview

Lead the next generation of intelligent automation as an IT Sr. Automation Engineer supporting critical investment operations. In this fully remote contract role, you’ll design, build, deploy, and own production-grade RPA solutions while evaluating where artificial intelligence, large language models, and hybrid automation approaches can deliver the greatest business value.

You’ll guide automation initiatives through the full lifecycle—from opportunity assessment and architecture to deployment, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to shape automation strategy, develop AI-enabled workflow tools, build React-based interfaces, collaborate with business stakeholders, and mentor engineers while improving operational efficiency in a highly regulated environment.

Required Skills

  • Production-level UiPath development, including RPA solution design, development, deployment, and support
  • Strong understanding of RPA architecture, process analysis, solution design, implementation planning, and operational efficiency measurement
  • Experience monitoring live automation environments, triaging incidents, performing root cause analysis, and implementing remediation
  • Proficiency with React 18+ , TypeScript, component architecture, and REST/API backend integration
  • Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs, including OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or Anthropic
  • Knowledge of AI-native development patterns, including:
  • Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines
  • Function calling
  • Streaming interfaces
  • LLM agents and agentic workflows
  • Experience with REST API integration and scripting or custom component development using Python or C#
  • Experience building automation interfaces, operational dashboards, or AI-powered workflow tools
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions, CI/CD practices, and version control
  • Proficiency with Jira and Agile or SAFe delivery practices, including sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, and PI planning
  • Ability to gather requirements, assess automation opportunities, and translate business needs into actionable epics and user stories
  • Strong technical documentation skills, including architecture decisions, process flows, API contracts, and operational runbooks
  • Ability to mentor junior and mid-level engineers and establish effective code review and quality practices
  • Availability to work core Eastern Time business hours

Nice to Have Skills

  • UiPath certification, such as UiARD or equivalent
  • Experience with Snowflake data querying, pipeline integration, or analytics workflows
  • Experience with ServiceNow or Salesforce workflow configuration, administration, or API integration
  • Experience with Power BI, SharePoint, or related business intelligence and collaboration tools
  • Familiarity with Arc42 documentation standards
  • Experience with UiPath Autopilot or other emerging automation and AI tools
  • Experience with LLM agents, agentic frameworks, or AI-assisted engineering workflows
  • Experience in investments, financial services, healthcare, or another regulated industry
  • Experience with JavaScript, Java, .NET, Next.js, or Vue.js

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred
  • Five or more years of experience designing and delivering production-scale automation solutions preferred
  • Previous experience serving as a technical lead, automation lead, or mentor preferred
  • Demonstrated experience owning automation solutions beyond deployment, including monitoring, reliability, incident response, and continuous improvement

Other Requirements

  • Contract position
  • 100% remote
  • Must be available during Eastern Time business hours and for sprint and PI ceremonies
  • Must be comfortable balancing RPA, AI, and hybrid approaches based on business value, technical feasibility, operational risk, and regulatory considerations
  • Must be able to communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs clearly to business stakeholders, compliance teams, and leadership
  • Must demonstrate a production-ownership mindset and commitment to reliable, maintainable automation solutions
