About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in autonomous vehicle technology, is looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer - Serviceability to join their team for a 6+ months engagement. This project involves driving the Design for Serviceability (DFS) of their products, performing evaluations of form, fit, function, access, and analysis. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with cross-functional teams to drive Serviceability (Design for Serviceability).
- Evaluating part and assembly design, from concept to design to manufacturing introduction for hand clearance, tooling clearance, ergonomics, and feasibility of replacement of all components.
- Developing service part release strategy and maintaining the Service BOM for spare parts planning.
- Working closely with engineering teams to integrate components and electromechanical systems.
- Collaborating with manufacturing engineers on the build of new product iterations.
- Identifying the need for specialized tooling. Guiding the special tooling team for design ideation, and development of the tool.
- Participating in requirements definition as it pertains to service, availability of the product, and reliability.
- Providing comprehensive cost/time modeling that showcases opportunities to drive product change that supports the reduction of cost or complexity of the repair.
- Working with the technical writing team to establish the repair process.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 4-6 years of engineering experience in a similar role.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Demonstrated successful experience in mechanical engineering within a product design and manufacturing environment.
- Experience designing and developing products through the lifecycle.
- Ability to design for a wide range of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with product and process validation.
- Tooling and/or equipment design experience.
- Detail-oriented, including proven documentation skills.
- Strong 3D CAD experience, CATIA a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
