Mechanical Engineer - Serviceability
Overview:
Are you a passionate Mechanical Engineer with a knack for designing products that are not only innovative but also easy to service and maintain? We are seeking a dynamic Mechanical Engineer to lead the Design for Serviceability (DFS) initiatives for a cutting-edge mobility solution. In this pivotal role, you will evaluate and optimize the form, fit, function, and accessibility of our products, driving cost efficiencies, reducing repair times, and enhancing overall product sustainment. Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 4-6 years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience in product design and manufacturing environments
- Proven success in designing and developing products throughout their lifecycle
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software; CATIA experience is a plus
- Experience with product and process validation, tooling, and equipment design
- Ability to evaluate assemblies for clearance, ergonomics, and feasibility of replacement
- Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail
- Capable of working independently, managing multiple projects effectively
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience designing specialized tooling and guiding tooling teams
- Knowledge of sensors, cameras, and compute systems integration
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and validation techniques
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams such as Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, and Industrial Design
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field; advanced degrees are a plus
- 4 to 6 years of experience in mechanical product design, with a focus on serviceability and maintainability
- Background working within product development cycles, from concept through manufacturing
Other Requirements:
- Location: Onsite in Foster City, CA
- Employment Type: W2 Only
- Duration: 6+ months with potential for extension
- Travel: Minimal, primarily related to field evaluations and collaboration with manufacturing teams
- Must be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
