Network Test Automation Engineer - Ethernet Systems DV

Join cutting-edge innovation in advanced vehicle technology as a Network Test Automation Engineer focused on Ethernet Systems. You'll be at the forefront of validating high-performance, Ethernet-connected sensor networks integral to autonomous vehicle platforms. This pivotal role involves designing and maintaining automation frameworks that ensure network reliability, compliance, and performance—contributing directly to the safety and efficiency of next-generation autonomous systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and sustain Python-based test automation frameworks for Ethernet compliance, integration, and performance validation.
  • Create and refine PCAP/tcpdump tools and fault injection scripts to test ARP, ICMP, FCS, link-loss scenarios, and recovery processes.
  • Configure and manage VLAN-segmented (802.1Q) topologies across bench and HIL test environments, including power supplies, DAQ systems, and relay controls.
  • Validate interoperability between network switches and sensors, ensuring adherence to security and PPAP standards for Ethernet ECUs.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation covering test frameworks, methodologies, and system configurations.

Required Skills:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Deep understanding of OSI model layers, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, SNMP, and VLAN (802.1Q) configurations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and Bash scripting, with proven experience developing test automation frameworks (e.g., pytest).
  • Skilled with network diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, iPerf, tcpdump, traceroute, and ethtool.
  • Strong CI/CD and DevOps experience, capable of debugging across the entire OSI stack.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with DoIP and UDS over IP protocols.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Ethernet standards including 100BASE-T1, BroadR-Reach, and FAKRA connectors.
  • Familiarity with time synchronization protocols like IEEE 1588v2/PTP and 802.1AS in embedded or air-gapped environments.
  • Expertise in Linux networking and HIL infrastructure, including DAQ and relay-controlled power systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical discipline.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in automotive or embedded Ethernet systems, particularly in validation and automation environments.

Additional Requirements:

  • This position is onsite in Foster City, CA, requiring 5 days per week in the office.
  • W2 employment status only.
  • Immediate start preferred, with a contract duration of 6 months, offering the opportunity to impact the future of autonomous vehicle networks.

Elevate your career by contributing to pioneering automotive Ethernet solutions in a collaborative, innovation-driven setting. Bring your expertise in network automation and be part of a team pushing the boundaries of vehicle connectivity and safety.
