Job Title: Payroll Consultant – UKG Expert

Overview:
Join a dynamic transit organization as a Payroll Consultant specializing in UKG, where your expertise will streamline complex payroll operations across multiple union agreements and diverse states. This high-impact role offers the opportunity to manage end-to-end payroll processing for thousands of employees within a fast-paced, unionized environment. If you thrive in solving complex payroll challenges and possess deep UKG knowledge, this contract position is your chance to make a significant difference in a forward-thinking company committed to operational excellence.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience managing complex, unionized payroll with multiple Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and T&E processing
  • Extensive and proven UKG payroll system experience, with a strong technical understanding
  • Exceptional communication skills to coordinate with teams and interpret CBAs accurately
  • Ability to handle biweekly and semi-monthly payrolls for approximately 500 to 5,000 employees
  • Experience managing payroll within transit or similar unionized industries is highly preferred

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with UKG Workforce Management module
  • Prior experience working within transit or transportation sectors, especially in larger organizations like Transdev or equivalent competitors
  • Knowledge of union regulations and collective bargaining processes within California and Western Massachusetts

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline preferred
  • 5+ years of hands-on payroll management experience, ideally in unionized settings with complex CBAs

Other Requirements:

  • This position offers both remote and hybrid work options, with preference for candidates based near Boston.
  • Duration: 6+ months with potential for extension or transition to permanent hire.
  • Ideal start date: ASAP, through at least March 2027.
  • Hours: 8 am – 5 pm EST, with flexibility during California payroll weeks to accommodate outside hours.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, unionized environment, referencing and adhering to multiple CBAs.
  • Ability and willingness to travel if needed (not specified but may be required).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex payroll scenarios without significant onboarding.

This role is perfect for a seasoned UKG payroll professional with a proven track record in unionized, multi-state environments. If you possess the technical mastery and industry experience to hit the ground running, this is an exciting opportunity to leverage your skills within a leading transit organization.
