About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in the automotive technology and autonomous mobility industry, is looking for a skilled Quality Engineer (Prototyping) to join their prototyping division (XOPS) for a 6-month engagement. This project involves ensuring that all design, manufacturing, assembly, and inspection processes meet rigorous quality standards for their advanced prototype components. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running, collaborate across diverse functional groups, and ensure high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Documentation Management: Review Jira tickets to ensure accurate data quality, create balloon drawings, and develop inspection report templates.
- Quality Compliance: Review inspection documents and follow established approval processes, while identifying and resolving any issues through the nonconformance process.
- Reporting & Dashboards: Maintain dashboards and provide weekly reports on inspection progress and quality status.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Design Engineers, Fabrication, CNC, Additive Manufacturing, Harness, Assembly Technicians, and Metrology teams to ensure quality at every stage.
- Process Excellence: Help maintain and improve quality management standards across the prototyping division.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 4 to 6 years of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Deep expertise in Quality Management standard practices and knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Experience with APQP practices, CMM programming, IPC 620, or ESD best practices is a plus.
- Experience in an Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier environment is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
