The Senior Accountant – Operations is a crucial role responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of institutional operations by managing specialized accounting functions across multiple areas. Key responsibilities include comprehensive fixed asset management and capitalization (including preparing audit footnotes), handling planned giving activities (such as split interest investments and calculating net present value adjustments), and overseeing property management and lease accounting for both lessor and lessee agreements, including tax filings. The role also requires detailed general ledger reconciliations (covering payroll, benefits, and quarterly 941s), sales tax reporting for retail activities, vendor banking verification, and operational oversight of federal programs. A major component involves continuous ERP system optimization, collaboration on financial system enhancements, and general operational support like troubleshooting and assisting with audits. The ideal candidate must be a highly skilled accountant with a Bachelor's degree, 5+ years of progressive experience (preferably in non-profit/education), strong GAAP knowledge, ERP proficiency, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to meet critical deadlines in a hybrid work environment.
