Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager

Role Overview:
As the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager, you will be instrumental in resolving existing accounting disparities, ensuring timely month-end closings, and managing complex inventory and revenue recognition processes. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will drive operational accounting functions, correct errors, and establish consistency across financial data, supporting the company's growth and operational efficiency. This onsite, contract-based role with potential for extension or permanent placement is ideal for a proactive leader with a strong background in operational and technical accounting, especially within manufacturing or retail sectors.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and Financial Accounting Standards
  • Expertise in manual journal entries and month-end close processes
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
  • Solid reconciliation, error correction, and data cleanup skills
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume transactional environments and reconcile multiple systems, including inventory management data
  • Excellent communication skills with clarity in English
  • Self-starter with a detail-oriented and organized approach
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience in luxury goods, manufacturing, or retail industries
  • Familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition and intercompany eliminations
  • Skills in implementing or upgrading ERP systems
  • Experience with Avalara sales tax system and expense management platforms
  • Exposure to ASC-842 lease accounting schedules
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior team members

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (MBA or MS preferred)
  • Experience managing operational accounting in a similar environment, handling both day-to-day transactions and complex month-end processes

Other Requirements:

  • Fully onsite role; location in the Bay Area preferred due to in-person collaboration
  • Ability to start immediately, with a commitment to completing critical month-end tasks within tight deadlines
  • Willingness to handle both planned and unplanned additional duties as required
