About the Opportunity:
Join a leader in the legal industry for a high-impact, 6-month contract-to-perm engagement focused on transforming their core data capabilities. We are seeking a self-motivated Senior Data Engineer
to drive significant value through data platform modernization,
process improvement, and automation.
This role requires a dedicated professional capable of hitting the ground running to enhance data scalability, security, accessibility, and turnaround times, ultimately enabling advanced analytics and robust, data-driven insights across the organization.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Your focus will be on the successful execution of specific deliverables, including:
- Data Platform Modernization & Management:
- Manage, evaluate, and enhance existing data platforms (Microsoft SQL Server on-premises and Microsoft Azure Cloud).
- Identify and implement emerging technologies and cloud-based solutions (Microsoft Azure/Fabric preferred) to drastically improve scalability, accessibility, and security.
- Monitor and optimize data engineering processes to enhance data processing efficiency, data quality, and overall system performance.
- Process Optimization and Governance:
- Contribute to establishing, documenting, and optimizing standardized procedures for data management, integration, quality management, and lifecycle management.
- Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and timeliness across the organization, enabling reliable decision-making.
- Apply advanced Powershell Scripting for database operations and automation.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Leadership:
- Act as a key point of contact for the Data Services Team, providing expert guidance and support to IT teams, business units, and senior management.
- Drive change and foster a data-driven culture by collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Translate complicated technical solutions into clear and concise business communication, ensuring successful stakeholder engagement throughout data project lifecycles.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 5 or more years of experience as a Database Architect or in a highly relevant senior data role.
- Deep expertise in Data Modeling from a warehouse perspective, SQL, Python, and Azure.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and effectively manage time to meet project goals.
- Experience with 2–3 years of hands-on experience with data cloud technologies, designing and implementing a cloud-based Data Lake/Lakehouse (Azure preferred), Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Azure Spark platform, Microsoft Azure Data Warehouse platform, Fabric (or Azure Synapse), Microsoft PowerBI and Microsoft data development tools (SSMS, Visual Studio Data Tools).
- Strong communication skills capable of translating complex technical solutions for business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and effectively manage time to meet project goals.
