About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in Asset Management, is looking for a skilled Senior Data Protection Engineer (Contract) to join their team for a 6–12 month engagement (with potential extension). This project involves shaping their enterprise data protection program, architecting and deploying technical DLP controls across Microsoft Purview, MIP, and Zscaler platforms, and defining data classification schemes and controls for important documents. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the design and implementation of a cohesive data protection and DLP strategy using Microsoft Purview and Zscaler technologies.
- Develop and maintain scalable architectures to classify, label, and protect data across endpoints, email, cloud storage, and network layers.
- Partner extensively with business units, Compliance, and Legal to define and document sensitive or regulated data.
- Build and manage DLP policies, MIP sensitivity labels, and data retention rules within Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365, and configure Zscaler DLP inspection policies.
- Extend Microsoft Purview coverage to non-Microsoft systems like Confluence Cloud and legacy file shares, leveraging PowerShell or Graph API for automation.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 10+ years of experience in Information Security or Data Protection roles, with 5+ years focused on enterprise DLP or information governance.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Information Protection (MIP), and Defender for Cloud Apps. Strong hands-on experience with Zscaler DLP, ZIA, and ZPA is a plus. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Proven ability to collaborate with non-technical business stakeholders to define and protect sensitive information.
- Proficiency with PowerShell, Graph API, or other scripting for automation and orchestration.
