Senior Machine Learning Hardware Design Consultant
Overview
Join a specialized hardware engineering team developing the next generation of machine learning accelerator IP. As a Senior Machine Learning Hardware Design Consultant, you will design and implement complex core logic that enables high-performance ML hardware. This role is ideal for an experienced digital hardware designer who can translate mathematically complex algorithms into efficient, high-quality hardware implementations.
You will work closely with hardware engineering and physical design teams to optimize performance, achieve timing closure, and meet demanding quality-of-results objectives. This is a hardware design position focused on ML accelerator architecture and implementation—not a machine learning software role.
Required Skills
- Strong digital hardware and logic design fundamentals
- Several years of experience working with machine learning-related hardware or algorithms
- Strong understanding of the mathematics underlying machine learning, graphics, and/or digital signal processing algorithms
- Demonstrated ability to implement complex algorithms or computational features in hardware
- Experience designing specialized core logic rather than general peripheral or side logic
- Experience collaborating with physical design engineers to achieve timing closure
- Strong understanding of Quality of Results (QOR) and hardware optimization
- Ability to translate complex mathematical concepts into efficient, performance-sensitive hardware designs
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across multidisciplinary engineering teams
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Direct experience designing machine learning accelerator hardware
- Experience with 3D graphics hardware
- Experience with digital signal processing hardware or algorithms
- Experience using Synopsys design tools
- Experience with other hardware design toolsets may also be considered; tool-specific experience is secondary to demonstrated design expertise
Preferred Education and Experience
- 10+ years of digital or hardware design experience strongly preferred
- Several years of experience applying machine learning, graphics, DSP, or related algorithms to hardware implementations
