Join a forward-thinking organization as a Senior Manager, SAP Project Accounting and lead the strategic design and implementation of project accounting within a cutting-edge SAP S/4HANA environment. In this pivotal role, you will establish scalable frameworks, configure complex project accounting systems, and drive automation to enhance financial processes for internal projects. As a key member of the Corporate Controllership team, you will influence how internal project costs are tracked, valued, and closed, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and supporting strategic decision-making.
What You Will Do:
- Lead the design and ongoing operation of SAP Project Accounting, including project and WBS structures, cost collection, settlement, and project close processes
- Establish governance and best practices for tracking and managing internal projects in SAP
- Collaborate with FP&A, project owners, IT, Procurement, Fixed Assets, and other teams to ensure precise project cost capture and classification
- Oversee accounting activities during month-end closing, including accruals, capitalization, project settlements, and reconciliations
- Develop policies, controls, and analytics to ensure transparent, automated, and consistent project accounting processes
- Serve as the SAP Project Accounting expert, guiding system configuration, testing, and user training
- Drive continuous improvements, automation initiatives, and process efficiencies
Required Skills:
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA, particularly SAP Project System (PS), Controlling (CO), FI, and Fixed Assets modules
- Proven experience designing, implementing, or operating project accounting frameworks within SAP
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP related to internal project costs, capitalization, and expense recognition
- Strong ability to configure and troubleshoot SAP systems, collaborating effectively with technical teams
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience leading SAP S/4HANA implementations or large-scale finance transformations
- Knowledge of SAP modules such as MM or SD that interface with project accounting
- Familiarity with automation technologies and continuous process improvement
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including cross-functional project leadership in technology-driven environments
Other Requirements:
- Hybrid work arrangement in the South Bay area with 2-3 days onsite
- Occasional travel for system deployment or project activities
- Ability to work closely with finance, IT, and project teams to ensure seamless SAP project accounting operations
