Senior Mechanical Buyer

Key Responsibilities:
- Execute strategic purchase orders for custom mechanical parts, fabricated sheet metal, plastics, and specialty components via NetSuite demand planning.
- Collaborate closely on-site with plant floor, quality, and engineering teams to resolve material shortages, discrepancies, and quality issues.
- Manage supplier relationships, including onboarding, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review engineering drawings and BOMs to assess supplier manufacturing capabilities and ensure precise quoting.
- Lead negotiations to establish long-term pricing agreements, cost reductions, and supplier performance improvements.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering on ECOs and prototype sourcing for new product introductions.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical buying experience, ideally within small to mid-sized manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
- Hands-on experience with large ERP systems, particularly NetSuite, for procurement and inventory management.
- Ability to work onsite full-time, managing multiple priorities in a hands-on manufacturing setting.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with small to medium manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with low-cost regional sourcing, especially from Asia and Mexico.
- Knowledge of managing procurement for sheet-metal fabrications (stamping, welding, laser cutting) and plastic molded components (injection molding, rotomolding, thermoforming).
- Certifications like APICS (CPIM/CSP) or ISM (CPM/CPSM).
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related disciplines.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical procurement within a manufacturing setting.
Other Requirements:
- This is an onsite role located in Methuen, MA; 5 days per week at the facility.
- Occasional demand planning analysis and supplier evaluations.
- Confidence working in a fast-paced, detailed environment with a focus on quality and cost efficiency.
