Senior Payroll Analyst

Join a dynamic, fast-paced environment as a Senior Payroll Analyst, where your expertise will drive accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll operations for a high-growth organization. This fully remote 9-month project offers an exciting opportunity to work with a leading company managing complex multi-state payrolls, ensuring legal compliance and delivering exceptional stakeholder support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end payroll processing for multi-state U.S. payrolls, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review, approve, and validate payroll calculations, including earnings, deductions, overtime, and bonuses.
  • Reconcile payroll data across HRIS, time & attendance, and benefits systems; troubleshoot discrepancies proactively.
  • Oversee off-cycle and manual check processing, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Manage payroll tax remittances, garnishments, and voluntary deductions in collaboration with vendors.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex payroll queries, delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Monitor changes in wage-and-hour laws and payroll tax regulations, maintaining compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
  • Prepare and analyze payroll reports, investigate variances, and support year-end processes like W-2 and 1099 reviews.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of hands-on U.S. payroll experience, including processing multi-state payrolls.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local wage-and-hour laws and payroll tax regulations.
  • Proficiency with ADP and experience working with major HRIS/payroll platforms (Workday, Oracle, SAP, UKG).
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, reconciliations) and ability to handle large datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently and accurately.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar credentials.
  • Experience with high-growth, multi-entity, or publicly traded organizations.
  • Familiarity with SOX controls and compliance in regulated environments.
  • Workday payroll processing experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, HR, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record in payroll processing within complex, multi-state, or multi-entity environments.
  • Experience working in high-growth or regulated industries is a plus.

  • Fully remote, 9-month project timeframe.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across HR, Finance, and Benefits teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure compliance and accuracy in all payroll activities.
