Join a Dynamic Nonprofit Organization as a Sr. Accountant (Consultant) — Fully Remote Opportunity

Embark on a meaningful six-month consulting journey with a renowned foundation dedicated to creating lasting social impact. As a Sr. Accountant Consultant, you'll play a vital role within a collaborative team, providing expert accounting support to ensure the organization's financial integrity and operational efficiency. This position offers the flexibility of remote work across the U.S., with a focus on Pacific Time business hours, making it perfect for a seasoned accounting professional seeking impactful engagement and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and review general ledger activities, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting, internal control evaluations, and month-end closing procedures.
  • Develop ad hoc financial reports and analyses, often working with imperfect or incomplete data.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, communicating complex financial information clearly.
  • Support process improvements, special projects, and other accounting functions as needed.

Required Skills:

  • 2–3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with an audit or public accounting background.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to evolving processes, and evaluate financial information through a business lens.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Comfort working with imperfect data and developing practical solutions.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset with curiosity toward resolving discrepancies.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience with nonprofit or foundation accounting (not mandatory).
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct, Salesforce, or Concur.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • CPA certification is a plus but not required.
  • Proven track record in audit, accounting, or a related field, with a strong grasp of financial controls and reporting practices.

Other Requirements:

  • This fully remote role is based in the U.S., with availability during Pacific Time business hours.
  • Ability to start by 10/05/2026, with interview availability on Thursday and Friday of the same week.
  • The onboarding process includes a two-week setup period for equipment delivery.

Ideal Candidates are curious, detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to thrive in an adaptable, fast-paced environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced accountants to leverage their skills in a meaningful setting while enjoying the flexibility of remote work.
