Location:  Redwood City, CA (Hybrid - 2/3 days onsite)
Duration:  6 months
Start Date:  Ideally by  Sept 19th  or  Oct 15th  (they prefer not to start during quarter close)
Bill Rate:  $115–130/hr - can go higher for the right candidate
Reports to:  Winnie Wong (Sr. Accounting Manager)

Reason the role is open: They are experiencing rapid growth and expanding their office and accounting operations. This role is needed to support automation projects, the MEC process, and the expansion of office functions, including FA, capitalizations, and tracking process improvements.
Interview Process:
  • 1st round:  Winnie Wong (30 min Zoom)
  • 2nd round:  Haza Chiu (30 min Zoom)
Onboarding:  Background check is required; onboarding is straightforward for contractors. Typically they bring on employees on Monday, but since this is a temp, they may be able to start on any day of the week
Team Structure:
Haza oversees a team of 10, including 3 direct reports and 7 under them. She manages global payroll, the entire AP team, and part of accounting close & cash management processes.
Role works closely with Winnie Wong and Haza Chiu in an open office environment, where collaboration and visibility are valued (VP sits on floor)

Our client, a rapidly growing biotech company in the Bay Area, is seeking an experienced  Senior Accountant  for a 6-month contract. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in  fixed assets, cash reconciliations, intercompany processes, and process improvement initiatives, with a focus on  automation projects  and  scaling accounting processes for international operations.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage  Fixed Assets, including tracking, capitalizations, and reconciliations.
  • Perform  cash reconciliation projects  to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Manage  intercompany transactions and consolidations, including  revamping intercompany processes, performing  accruals, and reporting for multiple subsidiaries.
  • Support the  Month-End Close process  and contribute to  automation initiatives.
  • Assist with  scaling accounting processes  for international operations.
  • Lead  process improvement initiatives  and implementation across accounting functions.
  • Ensure compliance with  GAAP  in a  public company  environment.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • GAAP and public company accounting
  • NetSuite experience is required
  • Familiarity with Coupa and Gappify is a plus
  • Expertise in Fixed Assets, cash reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and accruals
  • Proven experience with process improvement and implementation
  • Advanced Excel
