Senior Financial Analyst
Join a dynamic arts organization in San Francisco as a Senior Financial Analyst and play a vital role in shaping financial strategy and operational excellence. In this hybrid position, you will partner closely with department managers and senior leadership to drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts that support the organization's artistic and operational goals. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the cultural sector while utilizing your analytical expertise in a fast-paced, collaborative environment for an initial 6+ month engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with department managers on budgets, forecasts, and multi-year financial plans
- Lead seasonal planning and develop financial models to support strategic initiatives
- Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to leadership, highlighting financial trends and risks
- Review and analyze budgets, variances, and projections regularly
- Prepare and present monthly operating statements and variance commentary
- Manage grant reports, external statistical data, and ad-hoc financial reports
- Administer and support the FP&A system, including user training and maintenance of planning tools
- Contribute to month-end closing activities and maintain the chart of accounts in alignment with the ERP system
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in financial planning, budgeting, and reporting
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with FP&A software (Adaptive Planning preferred)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalism and discretion
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Self-starter with a proactive approach and ability to navigate ambiguity
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience working in the nonprofit or arts sector
- Familiarity with Adaptive Planning or similar FP&A systems
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related discipline
- 3-5 years of professional experience in a similar financial role, ideally within arts, nonprofit, or cultural organizations
Other Requirements:
- Location: San Francisco (Civic Center area), hybrid work arrangement (2-3 days onsite, Tuesdays and Thursdays are core days)
- Must be available for an initial 6+ month project
- Ability to attend in-person meetings and access company systems, possibly including some light travel if needed
- The position may require occasional extended hours during peak periods
