About the Opportunity
Our client, a leader in Building Automation Systems Design, is looking for a skilled Sr Mechanical Project Engineer to join their team for a contract to hire engagement.This role will be leading the MEP side of our business, providing technical leadership, design expertise, and collaboration on building management system designs . This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:

Mechanical Design Leadership

Develop designs for HVAC and mechanical systems that integrate with building automation.

Review designs and provide PE stamp approval.

Create scoping documents, basis of design reports, and detailed mechanical system documentation.

Support engineering teams in preparing drawings, schematics, and specifications.

Establish and maintain internal/external engineering standards.
Systems & Diagnostics
Provide system diagnostics and technical support for mechanical systems and automation integration.
Develop and maintain processes to improve engineering efficiency and quality.
Ensure designs comply with industry codes, standards, and best practices.
Client & Technical Interface
Attend project and client meetings to represent the MEP discipline.
Collaborate with internal design teams, vendors, and consultants to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and automation systems.
Support proposal development with technical input for RFPs, conceptual designs, and ROM estimates.
Quality & Standards
Set and uphold the standard for mechanical design quality across the firm.
Manage quality control and ensure consistency in deliverables.
Maintain up-to-date design processes and standards within the MEP discipline.
Required Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (Master’s preferred).

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred but not required

5+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally with exposure to building automation or MEP/controls integration.

Strong background in HVAC system design, building services, and related diagnostics.

Familiarity with codes, standards, and best practices for mechanical systems.

Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
