About the Role:

As a Staff Accountant, you'll be at the heart of the company's financial backbone, focusing heavily on accounts payable and supporting some accounts receivable functions. Your precision and attention to detail will ensure the accuracy of financial records, optimize cash flow, and build strong vendor relationships. This role offers an immediate starting point with the potential to transition into a permanent position, providing stability and growth for your career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely approval
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Prepare electronic payments and checks, monitoring payment schedules
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Maintain organized records of invoices, payments, and correspondence
  • Collaborate closely with purchasing, receiving, and finance teams
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations
  • Support process improvements within accounts payable functions using ERP systems

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience with accounts payable functions, including invoice processing and reconciliation
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, specifically P21 - Epicor
  • Advanced Excel skills: PivotTables, VLOOKUPs
  • Knowledge of GAAP and inventory management
  • Excellent communication and vendor relationship skills

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience with accounts receivable operations
  • Distribution industry experience
  • Familiarity with electronic payment processing (ACH, wire transfers)
  • Experience in a family-owned or small business environment

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Prior experience in wholesale, distribution, or HVAC-related industries
  • At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience

Additional Requirements:

  • Onsite role based in Burlington, MA, working five days per week
  • Flexible 8-4/9-5 work hours aligned with company operations
  • Ability to adapt quickly and support a team undergoing upskilling
  • Background check and drug screening as part of onboarding
