? Exciting Opportunity: Staff Accountant (High-Growth Hardware/Greentech Startup) ?

Position Overview Our client is an innovative, fast-growing company delivering proprietary cooling solutions to the data center industry. They are currently seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their finance team.

Reporting directly to the Controller, you will support and eventually own day-to-day accounting operations, the month-end close, and financial reporting. This is a hands-on role tailored for someone who values accuracy, enjoys building processes from the ground up, and thrives in a fast-moving, scaling business.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and reclasses as part of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations (cash, AP, AR, accrued liabilities) and resolve discrepancies promptly.

  • Manage or support accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, vendor setup, payment runs, customer billing, and collections follow-up.

  • Assist with revenue recognition for equipment sales and related service contracts in line with ASC 606.

  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external audits, tax filings (sales/use, 1099s), and investor or lender reporting.

  • Help produce monthly financial statements and variance analysis for management.

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and system use.

  • Take on ad hoc projects (including manufacturing, COGS, and inventory tracking) as the company scales.

Requirements and Experience

  • 2–4 years of accounting experience, ideally in public accounting or in industry at a company that sells equipment or hardware (manufacturing, industrial equipment, or technology hardware is a strong plus).

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and the full-cycle close process.

  • Experience with an ERP or accounting system such as Sage Intacct or similar.

  • Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations).

  • Eager to learn and ready to adapt in a rapidly changing environment; comfortable with shifting priorities and building processes where none currently exist.

  • High attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Clear communicator who works well cross-functionally with non-finance teams.

  • CPA or progress toward a CPA is a plus.

Location: San Ramon, CA (On-site 4 days/week)
