About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in cutting-edge automotive technology, is looking for a skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to join their team for a 6-month engagement. This project involves ensuring world-class performance of the prototype and production supply base and driving continuous improvement across their manufacturing network. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running, manage supplier relationships, and deliver critical quality results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supplier Assessment & Selection: Evaluate manufacturability of new designs and conduct process audits to select suppliers with the right manufacturing expertise.
- APQP Management: Oversee the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process from the initial design stage through PPAP submission and Start of Production (SOP).
- Supplier Industrialization: Lead the Supplier Industrialization Roadmap (SIR), including capability assessments and the verification/validation of production tooling and fixturing.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) analysis, implement corrective actions, and apply Lean manufacturing tools to drive performance throughout the supply base.
- Quality Metric Reporting: Analyze and report on incoming part quality metrics, including First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, Cp/Cpk analysis, Pareto, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Process Capability Studies.
- Collaboration: Partner with Vehicle Systems Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, and Manufacturing to identify risks in the production ramp and develop effective mitigation plans.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 8+ years of experience in Supplier Quality or Manufacturing within the automotive, aviation, or medical device industries.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or an equivalent engineering field).
- Deep expertise in core quality tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and GD&T.
- Proven ability to utilize problem-solving techniques such as Six-Sigma, 8D, Fish Bone Analysis, and Regression Analysis.
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stamping, or electromechanical assembly.
- Excellent communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates and facilitate supplier quality improvements.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40%.
