Title:
Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) Consultant / Project Coordinator
Job Type:
Contract
Contract Length:
Approximately 7 months (with potential extension)
Target Start Date:
ASAP
Work Location/Structure:
Memphis, TN (Hybrid – minimum 3 days onsite per week)
About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in the medical technology industry, is seeking a skilled Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) Consultant / Project Coordinator to join their team for an approximately 7-month engagement. This project involves supporting a large-scale warehouse automation and systems project in Memphis, focusing on test script development, validation, documentation, and coordination with both WMS and engineering teams. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop comprehensive test scripts and validation plans for WCS functionality.
- Execute test scripts, document results, and track issues through resolution.
- Support creation and maintenance of traceability matrices, test documentation, and functional specifications.
- Coordinate closely with WMS teams to align dependencies and validate integrated processes.
- Provide project coordination support, helping to manage timelines, deliverables, and reporting without requiring close supervision.
- Participate in system and process testing for warehouse automation equipment (conveyors, sorters, print-and-apply systems, etc.).
- Potentially support end-user training and test execution facilitation.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- Prior experience with testing projects in warehouse or distribution environments (ideally WCS/WMS).
- Strong ability to design test scripts beyond simple user stories — with focus on “happy path,” recovery paths, and exception handling.
- Hands-on experience in validation environments (regulated or structured testing preferred).
- Strong documentation and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively, with minimal hand-holding.
- Solid project coordination skills — able to track tasks, manage documentation, and support schedules.
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
