Job Type: Contract
Contract Length: 6-12 months
Pay Range: $55-$85/hour
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Remote (Must work PST; Bay Area preferred)
About the Opportunity:
Our client is looking for a skilled Azure Integration & Automation Engineer to join their team for a 6-12 month engagement. This project involves building and scaling enterprise integration and automation capabilities, creating secure, scalable, production-ready integrations using Azure-native tools. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and publishing APIs using Azure API Management (APIM), including implementing authentication (OAuth2, JWT), throttling, policies, and transformations.
- Designing and implementing integration workflows using Azure Logic Apps and Azure Functions.
- Implementing secure secrets and credential management using Azure Key Vault, managed identities, and rotation-friendly patterns.
- Implementing standardized error handling, retries, dead-letter/exception capture, and idempotency where required.
- Establishing reusable patterns/templates and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for repeatability and environment promotion.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years in integration, automation, or cloud engineering, with 2+ years hands-on Azure delivery.
- Deep expertise in Azure Core Stack tools: Azure API Management (APIM), Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Monitor / Log Analytics (KQL queries, alerts, dashboards). This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
- Strong understanding of integration fundamentals: REST APIs/JSON, webhooks, authentication (OAuth2, JWT), and retry/idempotency patterns.
- Experience delivering production systems with operational maturity (monitoring, alerting, runbooks).
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
