About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Corporate Controller to build and scale our accounting function from the ground up. Operating at the dynamic intersection of digital payments and healthcare technology, our business involves complex transactional flows that require a sharp, analytical mind.
We are looking for a builder who thrives in a lean, fast-paced startup environment and is eager to turn early-stage complexity into audit-ready, scalable financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead the Accounting Function: Own the month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
-
Master Complex Data Flows: Map and manage intricate transaction cycles involving billing, merchant processing, adjustments, and revenue splits.
-
Own Technical Accounting: Oversee ASC 606 revenue recognition for our subscription and transaction-based models, including contract reviews and documentation.
-
Modernize Tech & Systems: Evaluate and optimize our current accounting tech stack; design the roadmap for future ERP migration and automation.
-
Manage External Partners: Direct outsourced accounting firms and tax advisors, gradually transitioning critical capabilities in-house.
-
Audit & Tax Readiness: Lead upcoming financial audits, prepare supporting schedules, and ensure multi-state sales/use tax compliance.
-
Team Growth: Create a strategic blueprint for hiring and structuring a lean, internal accounting team as the company scales.
Qualifications
-
Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally blending public accounting (Big 4 or regional) with in-house startup operations.
-
Credentials: CPA background (active or inactive) is highly preferred.
-
Domain Expertise: Strong command of ASC 606 and SaaS accounting metrics (deferred revenue, usage fees, order-to-cash).
-
Industry Background: Experience in Fintech, Healthcare IT, Payment Processing, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), or complex marketplace platforms is a major plus.
-
Mindset: A "no task too small" attitude. You are equally comfortable writing technical memos, tracing data anomalies, and presenting to leadership.
-
Systems Savvy: Familiarity with modern business tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Stripe, Salesforce, digital expense and payroll systems) and experience scaling infrastructure.
