About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in specialized engineering and consulting, is looking for a skilled Controls Designer
to join their team for a 12-month engagement. This project involves partnering with architects, contractors, and building owners to design and implement advanced building systems, controls, and technology solutions for complex, mission-critical facilities. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running, deliver industry-leading documentation, and manage multiple complex design tasks.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design & Documentation: Create detailed plans, drawings, and instrumentation and controls documentation required for major construction projects.
- Systems Narratives: Prepare sequence of operations and controls narratives to guide project implementation.
- Drafting & Layout: Draft controls process and instrumentation diagrams, control panel layouts, and network architectures adhering to customer standards.
- Testing & Validation: Draft controls bench testing scripts and perform necessary design calculations.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain strict quality control over design outputs and support the development of departmental process documentation.
- Collaboration: Partner with internal and external clients to meet collaborative project goals and assist with business development activities as needed.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- An engineering degree or significant years of relevant experience in controls, instrumentation, or building systems design.
- Proficient in both Revit and AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical preferred).
- Exposure to programming for logic systems such as DDC and PLCs.
- A strong interest in machine design, HVAC, electrical instrumentation, and the creation of control sequences of operations.
- Experience or interest in IT/OT infrastructure, including low-voltage technologies like security systems, lighting control, and fire alarm systems.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and operate effectively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
