About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in the automotive industry, is looking for a skilled Engineering Technician to join their team for a 6+ month engagement. This project involves supporting the development of various electronic hardware, providing rapid prototyping capability, and low volume hardware assembly, facilitating quick design iterations for product development. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Following directions while closely adhering to process detail for each assignment.
- Assisting engineers during the development of new products to optimize the manufacturing process.
- Assisting Engineers in the development of solutions and alternative assembly techniques to resolve issues.
- Accurately assembling and testing a variety of electronic hardware from engineering prototypes through short run production.
- Performing as a Quality Delegate, inspecting work from other technicians in the Engineering Lab.
- Carrying out assignments in a safe and efficient manner.
- Being informative and communicating in a way that is complete, accurate and clear.
- Maintaining a consistent track-record of attendance and prompt arrival at work.
- Performing final product testing in accordance with written procedures.
- Ensuring your work area and equipment is kept neat, clean, and well organized.
- Requires minimal supervision on routine tasks.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 6 to 8 years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly.
- Deep expertise in hands-on lab experience such as soldering, power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Experience with technical training, such as soldering, trade school, or OJT classes (preferred).
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
- Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
- Working knowledge of Google Suite including, Docs, Sheets, and Slides, experience using a computer for entering data, and using the internet.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Proficient using standard assembly tools: cutters, crimpers, soldering irons, pin insertion/removal tools, and torque tools.
- Proficient verbal and written English language skills and prior experience working with product development teams in a low volume manufacturing setting.
- IPC-610, IPC-620, or JSTD-10.
