About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in autonomous vehicles, is looking for a skilled  Hardware Engineering Technician  to join their team for a 6+ months engagement. This project involves supporting the Advanced Hardware Engineering department in their testing and development of sensors, compute, and power system Electronic Control Units (ECU). This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Cable harness and test setup assembly, modifications, testing, and documentation.
  • Soldering & PCBA rework; wires (00 AWG to 35 AWG), SMD chips (0201+), and ICs (QFN, BGA).
  • Test support including test preparation, execution, data collection, and documentation.
  • Assisting in managing inventory of equipment and consumables; ordering parts and supplies.
  • Maintaining a safe and organized lab environment and contributing to lab improvements.
Required Skills & Experience:

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role (implied from typical technician experience and the depth of skills listed).
  • Deep expertise in cable harness and test setup assembly, modifications, testing, and documentation; soldering & PCBA rework (wires (00 AWG to 35 AWG), SMD chips (0201+), and ICs (QFN, BGA)); and the ability to move into different projects quickly. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
  • Experience assembling, inspecting, debugging, testing, & repairing PCBAs and cable harnesses; reading electrical schematics, circuit board files, BOMs, and engineering drawings; and experience with EE lab equipment (soldering irons, DMMs, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.) and hardware tools (crimpers, wire strippers, torque drivers, calipers, power drills, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
