Title:  Machine Learning Engineer
Job Type:  Contract
Contract Length:  6 months
Target Start Date:  ASAP
Work Location/Structure:  Remote

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in Social Media and Content Platforms, is looking for a skilled  Machine Learning Engineer  to join their team for a six-month engagement. This project involves building ML capabilities for a user-facing product, including accelerating the ML development process from internal tooling and modeling to validation, deployment, and optimization in production, with a focus on automating moderation actions and Subreddit rule enforcement. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Design and Deployment:  Design, build, and deploy LLM and non-LLM based models to solve critical user-facing classifier problems.
  • Model Iteration:  Help the internal team with rapid iteration of models that span a wide variety of content types (text/link/images/video).
  • Tooling:  Build model testing/validation and other internal tools that help the team execute faster and accelerate the ML development process.
  • Production Impact:  Your work will directly impact the automation of moderation actions and enforcement of community rules.
  • Collaboration:  Work with the existing engineering team to contribute to the direction of the project and the team.
Required Skills & Experience:

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
  • 3+ years of end-to-end experience in training, evaluating, and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
  • Deep expertise in Python and a solid understanding of software development best practices for rapid development. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
  • Experience working with Classifier problems and building ML capabilities for user-facing products.
  • Familiarity with image/video processing ML systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers and data scientists, to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Track record of using machine learning to drive key performance indicator (KPI) wins and solve complex, real-world problems.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
Bonus Points:
  • Experience in Google Vertex/Gemini LLM and its capabilities.
